It was free buy in Tournament. If you interested in poker, this is the best place to play poker without losing any money. Also, there are some rewards for 1st to 3 rd prize player.

This weekend will be poker days for you?

Another non photographed Heath weekend

On Thursday the 7th I had to catch a train from Sydney to Newcastle, then get to Port Stephens because the plan was to drive to Armidale on Friday for my brothers university graduation at from UNE. Basically after a long car trip, we stayed at an old fashioned hotel. I won't go into detail but I got back Monday the 11th. Below is a list of  highlights.

  • I saw a Steven Seagal movie on Foxtel where he went into a bar and broke arms of maybe a dozen people
  • I did a 9 hour trip back to Sydney on Sunday, played pool till 1am, got up at 5am and went on a gelogoy excursion to Hartley? where I was there from 7am - 6pm I think, fell down many hills, mountains, some non skinny guy fell and tore his pants, he had blue underwear on.
  • I licked a few rocks and they didn't taste good

Pancakes on the Rocks

Last Saturday night  it was my brothers 17th Birthday, so to celebrate we when to pancakes on the rocks famous for its Dessert pancakes. The restaurant offers great food apart from the pancakes, from steaks to pizzas. We went to the restaurant located at The Rocks, however there are locations all around Sydney Northmead Darling Harbour and Campbelltown. The dessert pancakes are for sure worth checking out. Check out the Full menu and locations at http://pancakesontherocks.com.au/home

A Night in the City

This weekend I headed to Darling Harbour!!!!!!!

The plan was to start the night at Star City Hotel & Casino, Pyrmont but plans soon changed when I won $500 and decided to stay there and spend it all =]!!!!

Star City has a great variety of things to do and see and has recently undergone a major refurbishment that has transformed the venue!

As I was surprised to find out, there are actually many other things to do at Star City with numerous dining experiences and a large array of bars. However, if you are trying to have  a cheap night, this is certainly not the venue for you!

The sports theatre has a great environment and is an area where you can sit and watch major sporting event, conveniently located right near a food facility, bar facilities and the all important TAB!

For more information you can head to http://www.starcity.com.au/Home.htm

Long weekend by Heath

The long weekend began for me on Friday the 1st  until Tuesday 5th.
Here is the outline of what happened IN SHORT & SWEET form:

I was in Port Stephens, a coastal town full of bogans and 5 main hang out areas (Mcdonalds, the country club pub, 24 hour bakery, Nelsonbay at night time but you should avoid it and the last place is the RSL where they have $2.50 red wine which is probably not good but it makes you forget where you are).

FRIDAY: I went to Kane Doney's 21st, I was the DJ. (I only did it because he asked me, I cover a large majority of club/dance music. It was in Raymond Terrace - a place that is considered imbred and hole territory.

SATURDAY:Isn't worth describing because I don't remember anything about it besides making the worst spaghetti bolognaise ever because I followed some stupid (obviously american) recipe. More like tinned chunky beef/savoury mince covered in wine. I think that was Saturday, not sure. Yep, I party hard.

SUNDAY: I wasin Burwood for dinner and I hung out at the rSL with my family and watched the great footy game. Burwood is like being in China, then I went home to Alexandria. I walked down to the Imperial Hotel in Erskinville and played pool. It's the closest place besides the buckland hotel with pool tables. The Imperial is the biggest gay club in Sydney and was in the movie Priscilla (they parked the bus on the side of it).

That's a statue near the pool tables, It's a woman, not a gay man.
Anyway, I play pool there and while I was there someone hit the jukebox up and put every song by 'The Village People' on, the video clips are displayed on the big screen and every one was singing. Im committed to playing pool and I had red wine.

MONDAY:
I went to a chinese place for food before getting a train to china town where I ate more food. I mainly just ate chinese food all day.

Friends 21st

On Saturday, it was one of my friends 21st and we heading into the city to the Aurora Hotel, the Aurora Hotel is located right next to Central Station so it is very easy to get to. It offers a great bar area and dance floor. Is location makes it a popular place to start the night as there are cheap drinks and good food.

The Long Weekend!

This weekend I headed to Candy's in Kings Cross, a short train ride from Pennant Hills station!!!!

Candy's is a relatively small nightclub in the heart of Kings Cross!!
It is a great venue with plenty of teens!

However, the drink prices and entry fee leave a big dent in the wallet!!! Entry to the club is $20 and a beer is $6.50! So if your looking for a cheap night out, this is not the venue!!!

Weekend warm up!

Many people think that the best nights happen on the weekend, however a great night can be had at the Mona Vale hotel on a Thursday night. The hotel offers a great array of bars and music to please every bodies tastes, the hotels offers great food.

On a Thursday the hotel gets very full and can often lead to a long line out the door with a wait to get into the doors, I would recommend on getting there early and enjoying cheaper drinks (happy hour), and good food. Check out there website for more info at http://www.monavalehotel.com.au/

AS PROMISED!

Unfortunately, last weekend I didn't get out much!

But as promised, I went out this weekend!

Sunday was my nan's 70th and as such, we went out for a family lunch at La Colina (her favourite restaurant)! The restaurant is situated in the heart of Castle Hill in Terminus St in a restaurant hub and has a very warm and hospitable feel to it (see the picture below)!

The food there was excellent, and was accompanied by great service and an overall great dining experience! However, if your a beer sorta man, I can't say I would recommend this eatery with a choice of just 3 beers!

However, with such great service and great food, this surely is a place to check out for yourself!

Having A Good Night On A Relatively Small Budget!

Hi there guys,

This weekend I didn't go out, at all!!!!!

As you all no, I am a university student and unfortunately at the moment I am BOMBARDED with assessments! However, I promised myself a break and last night I headed to the "Bull n Bush" (http://www.bullnbush.com.au/) in Baulkham Hills (Out West, Off the M2 motorway)!

Now you all may be wondering, how can you have a cheap night at a pub? Well my friends, the answer is simple, free poker hosted by the APL (http://www.playapl.com/  )!

Now this poker is not just on at one venue! The APL is a massive poker tournament organiser and hosts thousands of events around the country with most being free! The above website contains all the information you need to find out where the next event is!

The following link will take you to a YouTube video on how to play poker for those of you who want to gain some confidence before playing the real thing!

Well guys, thats all from me today! I promise to bring a much more exciting blog next weekend (when I actually have the chance to go out!)

Sunday 12nd September

This sunday I had a feast party at Macqurie University Village.

My house held a feast party, over 30 people participated in our party. Every person brought their national food to my place. It was a great multinational feast party.

I made a sushi (cucumber, avocado salmon, tempura asparagus and deep fried calamari)

Also, my friends could try their first time to make sushi. I had a very enjoyable weekend.

Friday 10th September

This Friday I travelled to Castle Hill RSL Club!

The clubs website can be accessed at www.castlehillrsl.com.au/

Over the past few years, Castle Hill RSL has made itself the place to be on a friday night for local teens that are over 18 years old. The club transforms itself for this night with guest DJs and the transformation of the dart room into a vibrant dance floor. The club is enormous with numerous indoor and outdoor sections!

One of the clubs main features is the vast array of activities that you can do here! The club has poker tables, pokey machines, roulette tables, pool tables, snooker tables, blackjack facilities and a cafe' that stays open late (great for late night drunk snacks)!

Getting to the club is easy with numerous buses running to and from the location and a courtesy bus for members that takes you to your front doorstep! However, the worst thing about this location is that you unfortunately need to be a member or with a member to get in, making it hard for some out of towners to join in the fun!

Be sure to check out Castle Hill RSL next friday and tell us your thoughts!

Our First Blog

This blog has been created by four Macquarie university students documenting our individual weekend. Each week we will all blog about our weekends, giving followers tips on places to go in Sydney.

Over time, the content of this blog and design will change! For the time being, we have decided to go with a simple white on blue template with the text on the right and links to follow, comment etc on the left side of the page. This blog is using a simple and plain background as we are going to be uploading a lot of pictures of our nights out. These pictures will be predominantly dark and won't clash with the background we have decided to use.

You can see the storyboard of what we expect our blog to look like in the future:
